Skip the crowded clichés. Trek into living root bridges, swim in turquoise pools no Instagram reel has overcrowded yet, and cave under stalactites older than civilisation — guided only by people born in Shillong.
Himachal and Uttarakhand built India's love for the mountains. But 2026 looks different. Here's the side-by-side most travel companies won't show you.
Most operators take you to 4 spots and call it Meghalaya. We built this trip around the lesser-known stops — the ones that need a local guide who knows which road washed out yesterday and which guesthouse opens at sunrise.
Guwahati → Umiam Lake → Shillong
Pickup from Guwahati airport. We drive into the hills, stop at Umiam Lake where the water mirrors the sky perfectly, and check into your deluxe Shillong stay. Light evening, big day tomorrow.
Easy dayLabon Falls · Umberlein Falls
Hidden falls only locals know how to find. Labon's clear pool is swimmable; Umberlein's a thunderous drop into a green amphitheatre. You'll understand why Meghalaya is called "wettest place on earth."
SwimmingKrang Suri · Phe Phe Falls · Laitlum Canyon
Krang Suri is the bluest water you'll ever swim in. Phe Phe needs a small trek but rewards with a pool no postcard does justice. We end at Laitlum Canyon — a Grand Canyon in green, best at golden hour.
AdventureMawlyngbna
Kayaking through limestone gorges. Ziplining over the river. Cliff jumps if you're feeling brave. Natural pool with a swing for the brave (and the photographers). This is the day that breaks every "just another hill station" expectation.
Big adventureGarden of Caves · Pung Lyer Waterfall
A network of small caves wrapped in a rainforest garden — straight out of a fantasy novel. Then a quiet hike to Pung Lyer, a waterfall locals brought us to that you'll find on no major tour itinerary.
Off the mapMawsmai Caves · Seven Sisters Falls · Nohkalikai · Double Decker Living Root Bridge
The day every Meghalaya trip is built around. Crawl through limestone formations at Mawsmai. Stand before Seven Sisters and Nohkalikai (India's tallest plunge waterfall). End with the trek to the Double Decker Root Bridge — handwoven by Khasi villagers over 180 years.
IconicShillong → Guwahati · Kamakhya Temple (optional)
Drop back to Guwahati airport for your flight home. If you'd like to add the Kamakhya Temple — one of India's most powerful Shakti Peethas — we'll arrange it at extra cost. A spiritual close to a wild week.
Optional add-onBig national brands send a Delhi or Mumbai trip leader who landed in Shillong the same day you did. Our drivers grew up here. Our guides studied at NEHU. Our trip leads have walked these trails since they were kids. That's the entire difference between an itinerary and an experience — and it's why we built Antarabodh around three words: Nature, Art & You.
Meghalaya weather changes every two hours. Our team knows which waterfall is dangerous after rain, which road floods first, and which viewpoint's clouds will lift by 4pm. National operators learn this the hard way — sometimes with your trip.
Every driver on our team is a Khasi local with 8+ years on these roads. They know the shortcut when there's a landslide on NH-6, the food stop where the local jadoh isn't watered down, and the village uncle who runs the boat to the root bridge.
Pung Lyer waterfall. The Mawlyngbna swing. Half of Phe Phe. These need a relationship with the village — not a Google Maps pin. WanderOn and Veena World stick to the safe four because that's all they have access to.
Cliff jumps with certified gear. Caving with proper headlamps. Roads driven only when locals say they're clear. We're adventurous because we know exactly where the line is — and that line was drawn by someone whose grandmother lives in the next village.
Our entire driving team is from Shillong with 8+ years of local experience. We track weather and road conditions in real time and reroute when needed. Monsoon Meghalaya is actually the most magical season — the waterfalls hit peak flow — and our local knowledge is exactly what makes it safe to enjoy.
National operators outsource ground operations to whichever local vendor bids lowest. They run a templated 4-spot itinerary because that's all their vendor can deliver. Antarabodh is the ground operation — we own every relationship from driver to homestay to village guide. That means real offbeat access (Pung Lyer, Mawlyngbna swing, full Phe Phe) and zero finger-pointing if something needs fixing.
We cap each batch at 10 travelers so the experience stays personal and the adventure activities don't get queued. You'll send a quick form and we'll confirm the next departure with seats available.
This is a fixed-departure group trip — perfect for solo travelers, couples, and small friend groups alike. The double-occupancy price means you're paired with a same-gender roommate. Single-occupancy upgrade available on request.
October to May is the classic window — clear skies, cool weather, all roads open. June to September is peak monsoon — every waterfall is at full power, the green is unreal, and crowds drop to nothing. Both seasons are extraordinary; we'll help you pick based on what you want to see.
Moderate. The Double Decker Root Bridge involves a ~3,500 step descent and ascent — manageable if you can handle a 1-hour brisk walk. Everything else is light to moderate. If you have specific concerns, fill the form and we'll customize.
Yes. The fixed group trip runs as advertised, but if you have a group of 6+ we can build a private departure — adjust the itinerary, swap stays, add days. Just mention it when you reach out.
Each batch fills 2-3 weeks before departure. Lock yours now or message us — we'll reply within the hour.
